Abstract

We compared overfitting in four-layer-DNN- and three-layer-ANN-based nonlinear equalizers used for nonlinearity compensation in optical communication systems. The results showed that the DNN-based nonlinear equalizer had stronger overfitting characteristics for both PRBS and a random sequence.
