Abstract

Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers are key components in advanced Photonic Integrated Circuits, both for providing gain and for use as non-linear element in signal processing operations. In this paper applications of SOAs in WDM Fabry-Perot and ring lasers, integrated wavelength converters and tunable receivers will be reviewed.
