Abstract

A new all-optical switching device that integrates three multimode interferometers cascaded in a line is presented experimentally. The device was fabricated by using a semiconductor monolithic integration technique. We demonstrate a 3.4-ps switching window and a 40-Gbit/s wavelength conversion. The simple device configuration is suitable for the future high integration of optical circuits.
