Room-temperature luminescence properties of chromium-doped silicate optical fibers

Abstract

Absorption and luminescence spectra and luminescence lifetime of optical fibers with silica-based core doped with chromium are studied. For the first time, the broadband luminescence of Cr4+ and Cr3+ ions was observed at room temperature with the quantum yield up to 10%.
