Abstract

A new treatment of four-wave mixing in quasidistrbuted amplified media exhibiting spatial and spectral nonuniformity is given. The validity of the new method is confirmed by analyzing multispan L-Band system. New set of rules for suppression of four-wave mixing in systems using quasidistributed amplification is derived and experimentally confirmed.
