Abstract
In high-speed/long-distance optical transmission systems with optical amplifiers, polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is one of the serious degradation factors giving constraint on the bit rate and the transmission distance, becoming especially important as the bit rate increases higher than 2.5 Gbit/s.
