Abstract

The mature technology of laser optical amplification (LOA), now based on Er-doped fiber and semiconductor amplifiers, keeps on feeding progress in optical communications [1][2], Parametric (nondegenerate) optical amplification (POA), available in both SCAs and undoped fibers, also makes possible various signal processing functions [3][4].
