Ultrahigh-speed Clock Recovery Circuit using a Traveling-Wave Laser Diode Amplifier as a 50 GHz Phase Detector

Abstract

Successful operation of a phase lock loop is demonstrated using a traveling-wave laser-diode amplifier as a 50 GHz phase detector. Optical gain modulation in the laser diode amplifier and all-optical clock multiplication technique are highly utilized to achieve the extremely high-speed operation.
