Abstract

Ultrafast gain dynamics in semiconductor lasers and amplifiers have been studied extensively during the last years [1]-[6]. Thus, the modulation and modelocking properties of laser diodes, as well as the short pulse gain characteristics of laser amplifiers, are issues that are strongly affected by the temporal characteristics of the gain.
