Enabling Further Economic Savings with Shared Mesh Protection Compared to Reactive Distributed Restoration

Abstract

We study how shared mesh protection can be further optimized by leveraging pre-setup information and compare it with reactive schemes such as restoration. Our results show protection bandwidth savings of up to 18% over restoration.
