Abstract

We demonstrate fast microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) based near infrared fluorescence dual-axes confocal imaging modality in both a 10-mm microscope and a 5-mm endoscope for three-dimensional (3-D) imaging of both ex vivo and in vivo samples. The miniature probe can be placed into contact with the target tissue to reveal sub-surface histology at depths of up to 300 µm. The probe has a maximum field of view (FOV) of 800×450 µm2 and a maximum acquisition rate of 5 frames/second. The lateral and axial resolutions are 5 µm and 7 µm, respectively.
