Spatio-Temporal Characterization of Ultrashort Surface Plasmon Polariton Pulses Propagating in Two-Dimensional Nanohole Arrays

Abstract

We present excitation and direct imaging of femtosecond-scale surface plasmon polariton (SPP) pulses, propagating along the surface of thin metallic film, perforated with a 2D array of circular nanoholes. Temporal and spatial characterization of scattered surface fieled is performed using time-resolved spatial heterodyne detection.
