Saturable absorption using nonlinear multimode interference in chalcogenide fiber

Abstract

We demonstrate an all-fiber saturable absorber from nonlinear multimode interference in a chalcogenide fiber. The saturable absorber is used to mode-lock a fiber laser cavity tunable in the wavelength range of 1834-1895 nm.
