Second Harmonic Generation by Mixing Longitudinal and Transverse Electric Field Components in Indium Gallium Phosphide-on-insulator Wire Waveguides

Abstract

We demonstrate second harmonic generation in InGaP-on insulator wire waveguides. We show that the longitudinal component of the fundamental quasi-TE pump mode, inherent to high index contrast waveguides, plays a critical role in the process.
