Observations of Complex Spatiotemporal Instabilities in a Fiber Ring Resonator

Abstract

We report on the first experimental observation of complex instability behaviours of localized dissipative structures in an AC-driven nonlinear Schrödinger system. This includes chaotic oscillations and collapses, as well as transitions to spatiotemporal chaos.
