Abstract

We demonstrated low-threshold Raman lasing in a slightly deformed microcavity using an efficient free-space coupling technique. By monitoring the beat frequency of split-mode Raman lasers in high-Q microcavities, ultrasensitive single nanoparticle detection was experimentally realized.
