Improved accuracy background characterization in a statistically background-free up-conversion at a single-photon level

Abstract

We report on more than a ten-fold improvement of the accuracy of background characterization of an efficient parametric up-converter developed for frequency conversion of non-classical light. The uncertainty of this measurement is 0.15 photons/s.
