Picosecond fiber laser mode-locked at 260th harmonic by GHz acoustic resonance in photonic crystal fiber core

Abstract

Stable generation of picosecond pulses with repetition rate of ~1.57 GHz is demonstrated in a soliton fiber laser passively mode-locked by an acoustic resonance in the solid core of a silica-glass photonic crystal fiber.
