Abstract
Topological insulators have lately been extensively studied. Their optical properties though have not been well described yet. We recently highlighted that a topological insulator exhibits saturable absorber-like behavior when placed in a 1550 nm laser beam. This property is likely to be used in a mode-locked fiber laser.
