New Regime of Polarization Bistability in Linear Birefringent Waveguides and Optical Logic Gates

Abstract

Structural anisotropic nonlinearity in linear birefringent optical waveguides leads to the discovery of new unstable polarization states which exhibit periodic bistable behavior. Such properties are relevant to the construction of integratable optical logic gates.
