Measurement of n2 and β by collinear four-wave mixing and heterodyne detection

Abstract

We demonstrate a method for simultaneous measurement of nonlinear refractive index and two-photon absorption coefficient without knowledge of laser parameters. Phase-sensitive heterodyne detection is combined with FWM to measure nonlinearities in a crystalline silicon plate.
