Metasurfaces based on artificially induced phase coexistence in phase-change materials

Abstract

We demonstrate a new type of tunable metasurface based on ultra-thin films of phase change materials. Effective optical properties arise from coexistence of a metallic and an insulating phase induced by patterned ion irradiation.
