Toward large forward Brillouin net amplification in silicon

Abstract

On-chip forward Brillouin amplification is studied in silicon waveguides for strong net amplification. Narrow-width silicon waveguides can provide large Brillouin gain and wide operation bandwidth, but net amplification is higher with a wider waveguide width.
