Aluminum nitride microring resonators for efficient frequency doubling and strong coupling between visible and infrared optical modes

Abstract

We realize a state-of-the-art second harmonic generation efficiency of 2500% W−1 from an aluminum nitride microring resonator. Utilizing such strong nonlinearity, we demonstrate efficient frequency conversion between visible and infrared optical modes, even entering the strong coupling regime.
