Chip-Based Parametric Comb Generation without an External Pump Laser

Abstract

We demonstrate frequency comb generation spanning 900 nm in a silicon-nitride microresonator without the use of an external single-frequency pump laser. The dual-cavity design allows for self-selection of the microresonator resonance used for comb generation.
