Nonlinear Optical Processes in Group III-V and Silicon Planar Photonic Crystal Membrane Structures

Abstract

High-index-contrast, wavelength scale texture in thin semiconductor membranes can be used to resonantly enhance a variety of nonlinear optical processes. Several experimental demonstrations in III-V, and silicon membranes incorporating PbSe nanocrystals will be described.
