Abstract

We demonstrate that nonparaxiality can strongly modify the stability of solitary waves propagating in nonlinear media. We derive the modified stability threshold for the generalized Nonlinear Scrodinger equation. Predictions of our analytical results are in full agreement with the numerical simulations.
