Modulational instability in quadratic media in a quasi self-imaging resonator

Abstract

We discuss the threshold for transverse modulational instability in a quasi self-imaging resonator with a quadratic nonlinearity. We show that a large reduction in the threshold can be obtained using a short diffraction length.
