Coherent Interactions Between Dissipative Spatial Solitons

Abstract

We report the observation of interactions between two coherent dissipative spatial solitons in a periodically patterned semiconductor optical amplifier (PPSOA). The interactions are non-local and phase dependent and exhibit surprising features such as soliton birth.
