Abstract

We present the first experimental demonstration of spatial soliton (SS) generation for type II SHG in a KTP crystal, using a non-collinear excitation geometry. The intensity threshold for soliton trapping was measured for different incidence angles between the fundamental waves, in the walk-off plane and the perpendicular plane. The influence of phase-matching conditions on the SS generation was investigated. Switching and continuous steering was obtained with an unprecedented amplitude.
