Fabrication of optical waveguides inside transparent materials using ultrashort laser pulses

Abstract

By focusing ultrashort laser pulses inside the bulk of different glasses (doped and undoped) and crystals optical waveguides have been produced. The properties of these waveguiding structures are discussed.
