Localized Structures, Optical Bistability and Pattern Forming Instabilities in a Single-Mirror Feedback Scheme

Abstract

We investigate experimentally the circumstances for the appearance of LS in an optical pattern–forming system and demonstrate, that the LS appear due to a modulation instability in a region, where the system is bistable or nearly bistable.
