Abstract
Because of the recent advances in high-power diode lasers producing in certain cases over 50 Watts of CW power, solid state lasers have seen a renaissance. Achieving optimum efficiencies in spectral regions where no solid state laser material is known to operate and controlling the patterns produced by the laser system with nonlinear optical elements offers an array of new opportunities for nonlinear guided waves applications.
