Abstract

Diffuse Photon Density Waves (DPDWs) are proposed to characterize diffuse media in a manner similar to electromagnetic waves on reflection. To this aim, the basic expressions for the reflection and transmission coefficients are put forward. Interesting effects such as the existence of modes analogous to Brewster modes are shown. Finally, we illustrate through numerical calculations how the optical parameter characterization is done both with and without noise in the data.
