Abstract

The first demonstration of a quasi-phase-matched self-frequency doubling Ti:Er:LiNbO3 waveguide laser is reported. It is pumped by a 1480 nm laser dinde and generates up to 2.4 mW/2.7 µW at a wavelength of 1531 nm/765 nm respectively. The novel combination of rare-earth doping and periodic poling of Ti:LiNbO3 optical waveguides allows to develop a whole new class of laser active, frequency converting integrated optical devices.
