Cord identification technique using higher order guiding modes of visible light for ultra-low bending loss fibers

Abstract

A cord identification technique is proposed using visible light for ultra-low bending loss fiber. We employed an offset launch technique to excite higher order modes, and achieved a sensitivity improvement of more than 10 dB.
