UEP-BCH Product Code based Hard-Decision FEC for 100 Gb/s Optical Transport Networks

Abstract

We propose a novel hard-decision FEC based on an unequal error protection (UEP) BCH product code for OTU4 framers. A simulation indicates a net coding gain of 9.35dB with 7% redundancy.
