A 9b10b Line Code for 2.5Gb/s Upstream PONs

Abstract

We propose a novel 9b10b line code suitable for the XG-PON1 2.5Gb/s upstream. It provides a good balance of line conditioning and efficiency. We show that this line code outperforms the scrambled NRZ code.
