An Optimal Investment Strategy of Optical Transceivers for Static WDM Networks

Abstract

Focusing on compatibility between active (field) and backup transponders, we present an optimum failure recovery procedure and transmitter choices for static DWDM networks that use fixed wavelength assignment. XFP modules are found as the more cost-effective choice than tunable lasers.
