Abstract
Nexans’ Data Communications Competence Center has been evaluating its multimode fiber (MMF) cable from a systems point of view. The intent of the experiments was to determine how different grades of fiber interact with various manufacturers’ transceivers and to determine maximum link distances. The findings presented here are for Gigabit and 10-Gigabit Ethernet. Assessments are ongoing and when completed, will also include frame error rate (FER) and length evaluation of MMF for one, two, four and 10-Gigabit Fibre Channel applications.
