Metal-Loaded TE/TM Polarization Splitter Consisting of Embedded Waveguides With Slightly Different Core Widths

Abstract

A TE/TM polarization splitter, in which the metal-loaded core is slightly widened, is analyzed using the beam-propagation method. An extinction ratio of > 25 dB is obtained at a wavelength of 1.55 µm.
