A Light-emitting-device (LED) with Monolithic Integration on Bulk Silicon in a Standard CMOS technology

Abstract

We have succeeded in realizing a silicon light emitting device in a standard 3-μm CMOS process with no change to the CMOS design and processing procedures. This device has obvious applications in the electro-optical interconnect.
