Surface plasmon resonance in a metallic pillar array on a metallic substrate in the terahertz frequency region

Abstract

We propose a new structure, consisting of a two-dimensional metallic pillar array on a metallic substrate, to support surface plasmons in the terahertz frequency region. We experimentally observed a surface plasmon resonance at 1.56 THz.
