Abstract

We develop the theory and study experimentally the propagation of linear magnetoinductive waves in composite metamaterials. We calculate the dispersion properties of waves in two types of infinite arrays of split-ring resonators taking into account both the wave retardation and long-range dipole-dipole interaction. We present our results on the first experimental observation of magnetoinductive waves in one-dimensional arrays of resonators.
