Development of cooling receiving system with avalanche photodiode for satellite laser ranging and communications

Abstract

The receiving system with Peltier cooling Si avalanche photodiode is being developed. Such systems are beneficial in photodetector noise reduction and single-photon mode possibilities. Using thermoelectric cooling modules the photodetector temperature was lowered to −40°C.
