Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Laser Communications, A Growing Field with Great Potential

Abstract

As part of the US-German NFIRE collaboration, The Aerospace Corporation developed LEO-to-ground lasercom expertise. These results will be extended in two upcoming NASA cubesat missions (OCSD and InVEST). Together these missions illustrate an interesting range of options.
