Photonic Crystal Based Ultra-Sensitive Interferometric Nanometer Displacement Sensor

Abstract

A very high precision interferometric sensor with a resolution up to ~λ/1940 is reported, exploiting Talbot effect, revivals of the initial phase, oscillation in transverse momentum, multimode interference inside a hollow photonic bandgap waveguide.
