Abstract

Multi-hole defect (MHD) photonic crystal cavities functionalized with in situ synthesized DNA bioreceptors are demonstrated for biosensing applications. By significantly increasing light interaction with target biomolecules in the MHD region, improved detection sensitivity is achieved.
