Coherent Population Trapping in Ruby at Room Temperature

Abstract

The first experimental observation of coherent population trapping (CPT) in a crystal at room temperature is reported. CPT resonances are observed under the action of either nanosecond optical pulse or a train of ultrashort pulses.
