Laser ignition of methane and biogas near flammability limits

Abstract

A high energy Nd:YAG laser is used to induce breakdown and ignition of methane and bio- fuel/air mixtures. Early stages of ignition are investigated using Schlieren imaging and laser interferometry for quenched and ignited flames.
